Abstract

This article studies the speech of young people in Kinshasa with particular emphasis on lexical creativity. In a context where French and Lingala are widely used, speakers create new lexical units, divert standardized meanings and use humor. The lexical features in the corpus are classified into four levels: playful, palliative, semantic and sexological.
