Abstract

When Césaire’s work is considered as a whole, it appears anthropocentric and dichotomous. Humanity is central to it, but two forms of humanity are opposed: a suffocating humanity suffering injustice and powerful people who crush the weak. Césaire’s sympathy for the oppressed justifies calling him an apostle of human dignity.
