Note: Rediscovering the role of the librarian in scientific research in the Congolese educational environment

Abstract

The profession of the librarian has evolved considerably in recent years. Since its activities anticipate the actions of scientific research, we want the librarian to assume them correctly in the documentary chain and in an efficient framework, without ignoring major scientific and technical changes. As a doctor and teacher, the librarian must ensure initiation into scientific research as the person who manages the sources of knowledge. Activities carried out with a view to research require revisiting and revitalizing routine services. Thus, the function of the librarian is to be rediscovered and clarified following the evolution of a status that is largely ignored in the Congolese educational environment.
