Abstract

This study carries out a lexicological and semantic analysis of the exhortation made by the Legal Representative of the Protestant Church in the DRC on January 16, 2018. The aim is to examine the lexical and semantic field of the word “bequeath” and to identify the terms that have a paradigmatic and syntagmatic relationship with this word. Terms such as transmit, give, cede and entrust are paradigmatically related to “bequeath”, while a united, wealthy and responsible state, where everyone is equal before the law and people can work and move around freely, is syntagmatically related to it.
